This Sears Mail-Away Exclusive Duke was the first official release of the character—sealed in a Hasbro mailer baggie, complete with file card and original red weapons tree.
🪖 Duke (Codename: First Sergeant) quickly became one of the franchise’s most iconic characters—equal parts battlefield tactician and squad morale booster. In fact, before his retail debut, this 1984 mail-away was the only way to get him, making it a prized early version among collectors.
📦 Trivia: To get this figure, kids had to mail in Flag Points plus a Sears catalog order form—this was pre-internet toy hunting at its finest. And unlike the later blister card release, this version shipped in a clear baggie with a red accessories tray, making it instantly recognizable to die-hard G.I. Joe fans.
