The Thing’s design was inspired by co-creator Jack Kirby himself—who saw Ben Grimm as a reflection of his own tough Brooklyn upbringing. Interestingly, Ben is one of the only Jewish superheroes in early Marvel canon, a detail later confirmed in the comics. And while the 1994 Fantastic Four cartoon helped introduce him to younger fans, it was his catchphrase, “It’s clobberin’ time!”, that cemented his legacy across generations.
