ThunderCats #1 (Marvel / Star Comics, 1985), CGC 7.5 (White Pages)
"Sight beyond sight." 👁️
Feel the magic and hear the roar! This is the debut issue that brought the ThunderCats from the television screen to the comic book page. Published by Marvel's Star Comics imprint in late 1985, this graded copy is a piece of animation history that captures the excitement of the original series premiere.
About the Source Material: Produced by Rankin/Bass, ThunderCats premiered in 1985 and quickly became a global phenomenon. It blended sci-fi technology (spaceships, tanks, lasers) with high fantasy (swords, sorcery, ancient demons) in a way few other shows did. The adventures of Lion-O and his companions on Third Earth, battling the evil Mumm-Ra, defined the childhoods of an entire generation, cementing the Sword of Omens as one of the most iconic weapons in pop culture history.
Issue Summary: "Survival Run!" This first issue adapts the legendary pilot episode, detailing the destruction of the planet Thundera. It follows the escape of the noble ThunderCats—Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, WilyKit, WilyKat, and Snarf—as they flee their dying homeworld. Pursued by the Mutants of Plun-Darr, they crash-land on Third Earth, where Lion-O must quickly grow into his role as Lord of the ThunderCats and face the ancient evil of Mumm-Ra for the first time.
