The toy line was released to compete with Hasbro's Transformer, and followed the same strategy of "borrowing" Japanese toys, Bandai Popy's Machine Robo line. Though greatly overshadowed by the Transformers, the Go-Bots by Tonka remains a popular toy line among collectors.
